Alaa Abou Fakher, a Martyr of the Lebanese Revolution, RIP November 12, 2019

Alaa Abou Fakher – A martyr of the Lebanese revolution; a loss to the Druze community; a symbol of the life, love, and vigor of the Lebanese people. May he rest in peace.

We find no other words to express what we saw on this day as we watched the news live and received the sad news of Alaa’s death. On Tuesday, November 12, 2019, Alaa was gunned down in cold blood in front of his family on a street in Khalde, Lebanon. A motive or reason is still unclear; however, bystanders witnessed the incident and the killer, who was identified, turned himself into a nearby military post. There is an abundance of information about this unfortunate event online.

Let us take a moment of silence in respect of the soul who was Alaa Abou Fakher, and what this person now symbolizes in our hearts and collective minds. Alaa is survived by his wife and three children.
