The Soul’s Journey in Reincarnation

Samsara, rebirth, and incarnation are different names of the same concept called Reincarnation (التقمّص) by al-Muwahhideen (also known as السبعيّة الفاطميّة – al-Sabaeyya al-Fatimia). The Christians call it Resurrection (القيامة), while the Ithna Ashariyya (الإثنعشريّة), a Shiite Muslim sect, call it Revival (رجعة).

Reincarnation is the rebirth of the soul in a new human body with a different physical appearance, condition, spirituality, psychology, mindset, and nationality. In contrast to what others may think, this concept is not limited to the al-Muwahhideen, of which the Druze are a small subset. Instead, this is a reasonable derivation of the natural order of the world. If we practice deep reflection, we realize that just like Karma (“what goes around comes around”) ensures justice, Reincarnation does too. For being given multiple infinite chances to relive, re-act, re-think, re-make, re-believe, and re-correct is the ultimate definition of justice.

Our being and our current condition are just a reflection and a result of our previous deeds. A very specific translation of the concept of Karma in Allah’s words:

يَا عِبَادِي إِنَّمَا هِيَ أَعْمَالُكُمْ تُرَدُّ إِلَيْكُمْ ، فَمَنْ وَجَدَ خَيْرًا فَلْيَحْمَدْنِي ، وَمَنْ وَجَدَ غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ  يَلُومَنَّ إِلَّا نَفْسَهُ

O my servants, your deeds will come back to you, those blessed shall thank Me, and those who believe they are not shall merely blame themselves.

It all started with ancient religions and sects preceding Islam such as Ancient Pharoes, Hindus, Buddhists, and Greeks. They considered that human beings are immortal and are bound to live eternally, for they are God’s successors on earth. Indeed, we humans, are the supreme creatures of Allah on earth, out of all others, and we were created to thrive spiritually and physically, to build an ideal world and preserve Allah’s diverse creations.

One of the many early indications of reincarnation thousands of years ago is Gabriel’s annunciation of the birth of Johnathan to Zachariah having the soul of Elijah and his strength:

1-5. ANNUNCIATION TO ZACHARIAS OF THE BIRTH OF JOHN THE BAPTIST. (At Jerusalem. B. C. 6.)  LUKE 1:5-25

11 And there appeared unto him, an angel of the Lord … But the angel said unto him, Fear not Zacharias: because thy supplication is heard, and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord … And he shall go before his face…in the spirit and power of Elijah.

ومن إنجيل لوقا “ع”  فصل 1 ص 169: الملاك جبريل يقول لزكريّا (يولد لك ولد له روح إيليّا وقوته)

In addition, reincarnation is mentioned in the Quran in the words of Allah which confirm His justice:

How can ye reject the faith in Allah?- seeing that ye were without life, and He gave you life; then will He cause you to die, and will again bring you to life; and again to Him will ye return. – (al-Baqara – verse 28)

سورة البقرة آية 28: {كيف تكفرون بالله وكنتم أمواتا فأحياكم ثمّ يميتكم ثمّ يحييكم ثمّ إليه ترجعون}

In essence, as Muwahhideen, we believe that life, death, resurrection and reincarnation are rights, and that with every breath and every heartbeat we have a new chance to change, strive and grow spiritually and mentally. Just remember that Allah loves, forgives, and gives chances, endless ones, for us to be the best version of ourselves.

  1. “Just remember that Allah loves, forgives, and gives chances, endless ones, for us to be the best version of ourselves.”

His Love is endless, yes; His Forgiveness is endless, yes; but the chances are not, even if you reincarnate. You have a limit: Judgement Day, and the signs are all over the Bible and the Quran. Knowing Humanity, with our history of sin since adamic times, giving us endless opportunities “to strive spiritually and mentally”is like giving a child carte blanche to do whatever he/she feels like to, right or wrong, being adrift to the mercy of his/her karma and later tell him/her: “It’s ok, you can leave it and do better tomorrow. Endless chances, no worries.” That, motivates no one to strive, seriously. Look around you, people are stuck in the illusions of this world in so many ways, like slaves chained to it, and they have no idea how to transcend that condition. That won’t change with reincarnation alone and endless chances.

Our real purpose is to get back to a total communion with God, rejoicing with and in His presence. That is what we were originally created for and the moment we broke that relationship by rejoincing in ourselves from the beginning of time, we commited the original sin that lead us to where we are now. “To strive spiritually and mentally” is part of that process but not the ultimate goal.

Another thing, please, can you tell us where did you quote this verse from:

    ” يَا عِبَادِي إِنَّمَا هِيَ أَعْمَالُكُمْ تُرَدُّ إِلَيْكُمْ ، فَمَنْ وَجَدَ خَيْرًا فَلْيَحْمَدْنِي ، وَمَنْ وَجَدَ غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ يَلُومَنَّ إِلَّا نَفْسَهُ

O my servants, your deeds will come back to you, those blessed shall thank Me, and those who believe they are not shall merely blame themselves.” ? It’s the only one that caught my attention that was not properly referenced. Thank you.
